Slumdog Millionaire, a rags to riches Indian film about a Mumbai street boy, received ten Academy Award nominations just a few days ago.
The crowd-pleaser of the year landed 10 nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, and three nods for composer A.R. Rahman.
I’ve seen Slumdog Millionaire twice now and I have to say, after traveling to India, that the film does an amazing job of capturing the lives of India street children. Those who have traveled to India will be instantly brought back to the street slums, train rides and cacophony of sounds that characterize the country.
The movie is exciting, depressing and ultimately one of the best love stories I’ve seen on the screen in a long time.
